Singer-actor-model Felix Mallard will play the pop star in the network’s untitled pilot.
CBS has found its pop star.
Singer-actor-model Felix Mallard — who recently wrapped Australian soap Neighbours — has been tapped to co-star in the network’s untitled comedy pilot from Tim McAuliffe and Austen Earl.
The multicamera comedy centers on a 30-something couple, tired of their mundane life, who start to reconnect with their younger, cooler selves when an emerging pop star, who is drawn to their super-normal suburban life, moves in. Damon Wayans Jr. (Happy Endings) stars as Peter, a good guy with a sense of humor who is happily married to his dream wife, Claire (uncast). Peter is an accountant and the business manager of young superstar musician Cooper (Mallard), who comes to live with them.
Mallard’s Cooper is additionally described as a sweet, charming small-town kid turned music superstar. He is a very positive guy who sees the good in everyone and everything, as well as being effortlessly cool and youthfully naïve.
McAuliffe (The Last Man on Earth, Bad Teacher, Up All Night) and Earl (9JKL, The Great Indoors, The Millers) penned the script and will executive produce the CBS Television Studios project alongside Ben Winston and his Fullwell 73 banner, as well as 3 Arts’ Michael Rotenberg and Jonathan Berry.
Mallard is repped by Echo Lake Entertainment, Australia’s Linsten Management and Stone Genow.
