Both Greenwood and Sufjan Stevens have confirmed their attendance at the upcoming Oscars ceremony.
The awards show, which is set to take place on March 4, will see Greenwood’s score for Phantom Thread up for the Best Original Score award. Meanwhile, Stevens’ contribution to Call Me By Your Name is nominated for Best Original Song.
Now, both stars have confirmed their attendance at the event. Stevens confirmed to the New York Times that he’ll not only be attending the event, but he’ll be doing so in Gucci. Greenwood’s confirmation came via Phantom Thread director Paul Thomas Anderson, who told Associated Press: “He’s coming! I have confirmation!”
Recently, Greenwood discussed his possible attendance on the Adam Buxton podcast. “My wife thinks it’s quite ridiculous,” he said. “But then I realised I was quite pleased with myself at the idea of not going, and I think it’s always good to resist that kind of urge, that sort of smirk. So maybe do the opposite to that impulse…. [But] no one wants to see sweaty version of me, shambling around, looking embarrassed. Amusing Paul, I think, is the main goal. Whatever entertains him.”
The Radiohead guitarist recently teamed up with the London Contemporary Orchestra to perform the score live for the first time during a screening of the movie at London’s Royal Festival Hall. Anderson was in attendance to introduce the film along with film critic Mark Kermode.
