With the numbers clear as day on Box Office Mojo, the early part of the 2018 has a clear winner, with some distance to go between Black Panther and its competition. Naturally, these numbers are going to change, and with them the standings, each time a new mega-tentpole is released and allowed to burn up the box office. But if any of these films are lucky, they’ll be the Beauty and the Beast of 2018, as that film was released in March of 2017 and managed to finish as the second highest-grossing film of that year’s market — behind only Star Wars: The Last Jedi, of course.
