‘The Voice’: Second Night of Blind Auditions Brings Another Four-Chair Turn

No coaches used their blocks tonight.

The Voice season 14 returned for night two of the Blind Auditions Tuesday, with coaches Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Alicia Keys and Kelly Clarkson all vying for artists. Heading into the night, Shelton and Keys had already used their blocks for the round.

The first artist to audition was Davison who sang “To Love Somebody” by the Bee Gees. Levine and Shelton turned quickly. He joined Team Adam.

Next up, 16-year-old artist Jaclyn Lovey sang “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Elvis Presley. It was a very delicate but emotional cover, and she seemed more experienced than her age suggested. Keys and Shelton both turned. Keys said she appreciated her classic sound. She definitely seemed like a better fit for Team Alicia. She indeed chose Keys as her coach.

Sophia Dion next sang “Whatta Man” but did not turn any chairs. After a montage of artists who also failed to turn chairs, Molly Stevens was up. She sang “Heavenly Day” by Patty Griffin. It was a soulful and standout country performance that led Clarkson and Shelton to turn their chairs. Clarkson argued that people shouldn’t just focus on one genre, trying to set herself apart from Shelton. “You don’t sound like every other country artist,” Clarkson said. Stevens chose Team Kelly, making it clear that Shelton wouldn’t be the only one with country artists this season.

Next up, former actor and boy band member Dylan Hartigan sang “Danny’s Song” by Loggins and Messina with a classic folk-rock sound. Clarkson was the one coach to turn. “I can’t wait to see what you have in your arsenal,” Clarkson said. “He is like a dark horse.”

The last artist of the night was Pryor Baird, who sang “I Don’t Need No Doctor” by Ray Charles. He had a singer-songwriter quality with country leanings, but he conveyed that he could sing in a lot of different genres. He got the second four-chair turn of the season, and this time no one used their block. “You have such a power and such a range,” Keys said. All four coaches fought hard, but he ultimately went with Team Blake.
