A new Deadpool 2 fan poster features the Merc With A Mouth hilariously wearing the Infinity Gauntlet – a jab at Avengers: Infinity War‘s pivotal plot device. Ryan Reynolds is back this year as Wade Wilson, but this time, with a slew of new mutants that could potentially become his own band of allies moving forward. Specific story details are still scant at the moment but the FOX project promises to be a bigger and crazier sequel. While original helmer Tim Miller departed the project and was replaced by John Wick co-director David Leitch, writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese are back for the follow-up with Reynolds also officially getting a co-writing credit.
Meanwhile, over at Marvel Studios, the culmination of the MCU is all geared up with Infinity War. Featuring almost every key player in the franchise, the movie will pit Earth’s Mightiest Heroes against their most dangerous adversary yet, Thanos, in a race to first collect all six Infinity Stones. But while the Avengers and the galactic villain are scrambling to beat each other, it seems like Deadpool was able to get a hand on the mystical gems – at least according to the mock-up below.

Hailing from Imgur is a fan-made poster of Deadpool wearing the Infinity Gauntlet with five stones on (Power, Space, Reality, Mind, and Soul). Due to the way the poster is cropped, the part of his hand presumably housing the Time stone isn’t visible. Of course, Wade infuses the illustration with his own brand of humor courtesy of a middle finger gesture. Check it out below:
The above fan poster is totally within Deadpool’s realm of humor, considering how he can make fun of basically anything. In fact, the film’s Cable-centric trailer has nods to several other comic book films, including Infinity War, which fans know is also starring Brolin as the mad Titan Thanos. It’ll be interesting to see if the movie itself will include jabs at the Marvel Studios film, since it hits theaters just two weeks before Deadpool 2.
Of course, once (and if) the big FOX and Disney merger finally pushes through, Reynolds and his Deadpool team can have more liberty in making fun of the MCU, especially since they might be joining the franchise and we know how much he likes self-deprecating jokes. Having said that, it’s still uncertain how the Merc With A Mouth will fit into the PG-13 reality in which the Avengers exist. Many are still skeptical of the possibility that the House of Mouse will water down FOX’s grittier Marvel projects to suit their family-friendly brand. Fans shall see how the integration will pan out, but right now, the two franchises are still separately operating.
Deadpool 2 has gotten a bad rap in the last few weeks due to ongoing reshoots and rumors of the film testing poorly. And while the reasons behind the reshoots (to add more Cable and Domino) have been reported – and a subsequent report revealed that Deadpool 2 is actually doing well during screenings – fans can’t help but feel a bit worried about the sequel. Fortunately, with just a little bit more than a month before showtime, we won’t have to wait long to find out.
