Disney has created adorable Zootopia-inspired posters for some of this year’s most popular Oscar-nominated films. The highly anticipated 90th Academy Awards ceremony, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, airs on ABC this Sunday, celebrating the year’s most memorable moments in cinema.
The films being recognized this year include Jordan Peele’s horror thriller Get Out, Greta Gerwig’s coming of age directorial debut Lady Bird, starring Saoirse Ronan, and the harrowing World War II film, Dunkirk, which was written, directed, and co-produced by Christopher Nolan. Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water and Martin McDonagh’s Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, are also nominated for awards. The ceremony is also set to feature a Time’s Up “moment” in light of recent scandals rocking Hollywood, with Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway returning to present this year’s Best Picture award despite last year’s shocking mix-up between Moonlight and La La Land for the highly-coveted category.

While the ceremony is one of Hollywood’s most revered nights filled with glamour and big stars, Disney Animation is having some animal-filled fun by creating Zootopia-inspired posters for a few of this year’s nominated films (plus Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which isn’t nominated for an award). The posters are based on based on the 2016 animated film that follows a fugitive con artist fox and rookie cop bunny who have to work together to uncover a conspiracy in a a city of anthropomorphic animals. Take a look:
The posters feature The Shape of Water Buffalo (parodying The Shape of Water), a Bullermero Del Toro film (Guillermo del Toro); Lady Herd (Lady Bird), written and directed by Greta Growling (Greta Gerwig) staring Sasha Roamin (Saoirse Ronan); Zoomanji: We Come From The Jungle (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) starring Canine Hart (Kevin Hart), Moowane Johnshorn (Dwayne Johnson), Jack Catt (Jack Black), and Haren Gillan (Karen Gillan). And perhaps the best one is All The Bunny In The World (All the Money in the World), a Ridley Sloth (Ridley Scott) film inspired by Zoo Events (Real Events), which features the tagline, “Everyone Wants A Carrot” (“Everyone Wants A Cut“), starring Gazelle Williams (Michelle Williams), Christofur Puma (Christopher Plummer), and Mark Wahlrus (Mark Wahlberg).
It’s curious as to why Disney Animation chose the aforementioned four films and not of the other movies that are nominated. Perhaps it’s because those four posters work well with what the marketing team had in mind. It’s worth noting that Disney did the same thing with the 2017 Oscar nominees, parodying films such as La La Land, Hell or High Water, Nocturnal Animals, and more. This is only the second year that they’ve done this, so we’ll just have to wait and see if they plan on continuing this tradition next year and with every subsequent Oscar ceremony. As for Zootopia itself, there were talks about a Zootopia sequel or spinoff happening in the near future, but nothing has happened on that end as of yet.
