Run The Jewels’ El-P has remixed ‘Supercut’, from Lorde’s outstanding ‘2017 album ‘Melodrama’.
NME named ‘Melodrama’ our album of the year last year, stating in our review that it finds Lorde “always framing experience through a modern lens, like in ‘Supercut’, in which a relationship plays out in condensed highlights, like a YouTube clip.”
Now, ahead of a huge US tour which will see the two acts performing together (with Tove Lo and Mitski opening), Run The Jewels have remixed ‘Supercut’, fashioning it into a slow-burning new guise.
In a newsletter, Lorde shared the remix, and wrote of the upcoming tour: “i really love this show – it’s so different for me. we’ve never played arenas before, and this is by far my biggest show in each city we’re visiting, which is awesome. pretty cool to think about us being in tiny clubs and theatres for pure heroine, and now i have a little razor scooter to get me around the venue lol!”
She continues: “i hope you love the show too. it’s gonna be super fun to have run the jewels and tove and mitski running around with us too- make sure you check out their sets.”

Speaking on the transformative period she experienced between albums one and two, Lorde recently told NME: “That whole period of time between 19 and 20 changed the way I saw the world. I think what I really experienced was a sort of breakdown of the black-and-white, good-and-bad way of thinking. I am not very good at seeing when people are lying to me, or things like that, and I felt the grief of being deceived for the first time, or being let down for the first time, in this very adult way. And I did really grieve saying goodbye to being a kid, but I feel quite calm coming out of it, I feel good. Everything is complicated and interesting, and those are good things.”
