Migos and Lil Yachty have teamed up with Gucci Mane on the lead track from his new album, ‘Evil Genius’.
‘Solitaire’ was reported to be taken from a rumoured long-form collaboration between the three parties, titled ‘Glacier Boyz’. However, it has since been confirmed that that is not the case.
The track, which was produced by C.N.O.T.E., features Mane boasting about his lifestyle while casting his mind back to his stint in prison. Only two members of Migos appear, with Offset missing from the song. Listen to ‘Solitaire’ below.
Mane confirmed the release of ‘Evil Genius’ late last year in a Twitter post. “Next solo album #TheEvilGenius,” he wrote. He released two albums in 2017 – ‘El Gato: The Human Glacier’ and ‘Mr. Davis‘ – as well as the mixtape ‘DropTopWop‘.
He also released his first book, The Autobiography of Gucci Mane. The memoir has already been picked up by Paramount Pictures and Imagine Entertainment and will be made into a movie soon. The rapper will serve as executive producer on the film. No release date for it or ‘Evil Genius’ have been confirmed at present.
Migos, meanwhile, discussed losing to Kendrick Lamar at the Grammys, arguing that they were “cheated”. The trio were nominated for Best Rap Album for 2017’s ‘Culture’ and Best Rap Performance for ‘Bad And Boujee’, losing out on both counts to Lamar’s ‘DAMN.’ and ‘HUMBLE.’
Speaking to NME, Offset said: “They cheated us.” Quavo added: “There was nothing bigger than the fucking ‘Culture’ album this whole last year. They’re scared to handle the three-headed monster… Ooh! [But] we’ll be back next year… WE’LL BE FUCKING BACK NEXT YEAR.”
