The Academy Awards will air live at 5 p.m. PT on Sunday, March 4.
Cord-cutters hoping not to miss out on another envelopegate -style fiasco at the 90th annual Academy Awards have plenty of options for streaming the show live online this year.
ABC’s live coverage kicks off at 3:30 p.m. PT with the red carpet and continues with the telecast at 5 p.m. PT. Both shows are available for cable subscribers to stream through ABC.com and the ABC app, available via Apple TV, Roku and Amazon Fire TV. But for those using the service, users must use their cable subscription credentials to log in. And the live feed will only be available to viewers in Chicago, Fresno, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, Raleigh-Durham and San Francisco.
For people without cable subscriptions, a number of live-TV streaming services will also offer users access to ABC’s Oscars coverage, including AT&T’s DirecTV Now, Google’s YouTube TV, Hulu’s live TV service, Dish Network’s Sling TV and Sony’s PlayStation Vue. For those unable to stream the show live, Hulu will allow subscribers to view the ceremony on demand in its entirety on Monday.
Viewers less concerned with watching the full Oscars telecast can tune in to ABC’s pre-show, The Oscars: All Access, which will begin streaming live at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT on Sunday. Facebook has once again partnered with ABC and the Oscars to be the ceremony’s exclusive social media live stream partner throughout the evening. Facebook users will be able to see backstage coverage and highlights from the red carpet prior to the show.
Sofia Carson (Descendants) and Ben Lyons (The Warmup) are set to return as hosts of All Access, where they will be stationed on the red carpet and backstage. Good Morning America contributor Chris Connelly will also return to the live stream, all together acting as greeters to the stars as they step onto the red carpet. They will be joined by ESPN commentator Adnan Virk, who will provide commentary during the backstage show, and Wesam Keesh (For the People) who will contribute from the bleachers that run along the red carpet.
The Academy also will have an official Facebook group dubbed Oscars Movie Club. Insider content will be shared on the Facebook Watch show page throughout the week ahead of Sunday’s ceremony. Avengers: Infinity War star Tom Holland will take over the Stories for the Facebook-owned Instagram account.
Jimmy Kimmel returns to host the Oscars, broadcasting live on ABC beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
