‘SNL’: Cecily Strong Brings Back Hope Hicks Impression for a Farewell

Cecily Strong got to say goodbye to the Trump White House as Hope Hicks on “Weekend Update.”

During the “Weekend Update” segment of Saturday Night Live on Saturday, castmember Cecily Strong reprised her impression of former White House Communications Director Hope Hicks, who resigned this week just one day after being interviewed for nine hours as part of the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Strong’s Hicks noted that she was generally treated well at the White House because of her good looks and hair. She also referred to her time as communications director as a “semester abroad.”

She thanked some of the people she worked with at the White House, including counselor to the president Kellyanne Conway. “To Kellyanne, you taught me that a strong woman could run a campaign and win,” Strong said. “You also showed me what I’d look like if I’d stuck around too long.”

She also thanked her “BFF” Ivanka Trump: “You were the one who told me about this internship, or job, or what is it?” She compared her job to the feeling of waking up during a sleepover and seeing her friend’s dad standing in the doorway watching them.

She also compared her job to the interpreter who communicated in sign language with Koko the gorilla, showing the gestures she used for when Trump was sleepy, angry, or “slorngry,” a combination of sleepy, angry, and horny.

“To everyone else at the Trump White House, I’ll see you at the reunion in ten years!” Strong’s Hicks declared.
