‘The Last Jedi’ actress will play one of the lead roles in ‘Sorry for Your Loss.’
Kelly Marie Tran, who made her debut in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, has found her next role.
The 29-year-old actress has been cast in Facebook Watch’s upcoming series Sorry for Your Loss, starring Elizabeth Olsen. The 10-episode dark comedy centers on the life of young window Leigh Gibbs (Olsen) as she deals with the grief of losing her husband while reconnecting with relationships of her past.
Tran will star as Leigh’s younger sister, Jules, who is described as the most fun girl at a party, and the hardest to live with. In the face of her brother-in-law’s death, Jules is not only fighting day-by-day to maintain her sobriety, but also struggling to evolve out of the role of the well-meaning disaster in her family.
Sorry For Your Loss is created by Kit Steinkellner (Z: The Beginning of Everything), with Switched at Birth creator Lizzy Weiss serving as the showrunner. The pair will executive produce, alongside Olsen and James Ponsoldt, who will also direct. Exec producers also include Big Beach TV’s Robin Schwartz, Marc Turtletaub and Peter Saraf, and Brillstein Entertainment Partners’ Cynthia Pett, Brad Petrigala, and Jon Liebman.
Tran is repped by CAA and Stone, Genow, Smelkinson, Binder & Christopher.
Variety first reported the news of Tran’s casting.
