Mike Shinoda talks future of Linkin Park: “The answer is there is no answer”

Linkin Park‘s Mike Shinoda has responded to speculation over the future of his band, saying that he has “no answer” for fans.

Shinoda recently announced a new solo album ‘Post Traumatic’ in the wake of the tragic death of the band’s co-frontman Chester Bennington back in July 2017 at the age of 41.

Speaking to Vulture last week, Shinoda said that he was “unable to say what will happen with the band”, adding: “There’s really just no answer, and it’s funny because if I even say anything about the band’s future, that becomes the headline, which is stupid because the answer is there is no answer.”

“Fans think they want to know what the future is: Believe me, I want to know what the answer is. But there just isn’t one.”

Shinoda’s ‘Post Traumatic’ album follows on from January’s ‘Post Traumatic EP’. The solo LP will be released on June 15 via Warner Bros.

The announcement of the ‘Post Traumatic’ record was accompanied by the release of two new songs from the album. Shinoda shared both the video for the song ‘Crossing A Line’ and the audio for ‘Nothing Makes Sense Anymore’. Find those here.

Speaking about the creative process behind ‘Post Traumatic’, Shinoda said that making the album was “a journey out of grief and darkness, not into grief and darkness.”

“If people have been through something similar, I hope they feel less alone. If they haven’t been through this, I hope they feel grateful.”
