Director Shane Black has shared a teaser image for his upcoming reboot/sequel The Predator, offering further confirmation that the first teaser trailer will be arriving soon. Thirty years ago Black appeared (and was promptly killed off) in the original Predator, and since then he has earned acclaim for directing movies that blend action and comedy, including Iron Man 3 and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.
The Predator‘s ensemble cast includes Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Jacob Tremblay, Boyd Holbrook and Trevante Rhodes. Black has promised plenty of hardcore violence (“spines bleed”), and Brown has said that the movie has “a really wicked sense of humor.” However, we’ve yet to see any actual footage from the movie, which has just completed reshoots in Canada.

Fortunately, we won’t have to wait too much longer. Black’s co-writer, Fred Dekker, recently said that a teaser trailer will be coming soon, and the caption on this jungle photo that Black tweeted promises (or warns, depending on where you’re standing) that it won’t be much longer before we see the lethal alien in action again.

While no specific date has been given for the arrival of the trailer, it would make sense to debut it ahead of screenings of John Krasinski’s horror movie A Quiet Place, which arrives in theaters next week. A Quiet Place is set in a future where humans have been nearly wiped out by a species of creatures that hunt by sound, and so the only way to survive is to stay silent. A Quiet Place has received rave reviews, which bodes well for its box office prospects and would make it the perfect place to start promoting The Predator.
Last year Holbrook revealed some intriguing plot details for The Predator, explaining that the main characters are war veterans with PTSD, who are on a bus traveling to the VA hospital when the aliens attack in suburbia. However, this photo and the other images and photos we’ve seen from the set confirm that The Predator will have a classic jungle setting as well.
Horror reboots are a dime a dozen, but there have been some great recent takes on classic horror films, including last year’s new adaptation of IT. The Predator has a great director at the helm and a very talented cast, and we can’t wait to see the first bits of footage.
