The Weeknd performed ‘Call Out My Name’ for the first time at Coachella

The Weeknd performed ‘Call Out My Name’ live for the first time last night as took on a headline slot at Coachella 2018. Check out the footage below.

Earlier this week, the musician unveiled the official video for the new track, which is taken from his new EP ‘My Dear Melancholy’. NME said of the record: “Where the 18-track ‘Starboy’ often drifted into forgettable airiness, his latest offering is tighter and more focused, with greater attention to detail.”

Taking to the stage at Coachella last night, The Weeknd took the opportunity to air new material.

With the likes of ‘Starboy’ and ‘Party Monster’ appearing early in the set, Abel went on to showcase a stripped-back rendition of his heartbreaking new track. Appearing with nothing more than electric guitar accompaniment, fans praised the musician’s passion and emotion.

“Ok.. the live version is 100x better,” one fan tweeted. “You can truly feel the amount of passion and emotion Abel brings to these lyrics.. absolutely breathtaking.” Another commented: “Selena really broke this man’s heart.”

‘Wasted Times’, ‘Hurt You’ and ‘Privilege’ were also played for the first time.

Earlier in the evening, St Vincent premiered her “blistering, disturbing rock show” as she reunited with her live band.

Meanwhile, it’s been reported that Beyonce will reunite with former girl band Destiny’s Child as part of her headline set tonight.
