Childish Gambino is teasing a series of ‘Summertime Starts Here’ events

Taking place across London, New York and Los Angeles

Childish Gambino seems to be to teasing a series of ‘Summertime Starts Here’ events set to take place over the next few days.

Earlier this week, the artist shared two brand new songs as part of a ‘Summer Pack’ of singles – ‘Summertime Magic’ and ‘Feels Like Summer’.

Last night (July 12) a mysterious website and instagram account emerged, which promotes events at New York City’s Union Square tonight (July 13) and Fort Greene Park (July 14), L.A.’s Santa Monica Pier (July 14) and Fairfax High School (July 15), as well as London’s Lovebox festival tomorrow (July 14).

Childish Gambino headlines the festival that same night but neither he or Lovebox have confirmed any details about the events. You can see the Instagram post below.

Glover last released a full-length album as Childish Gambino back in December 2016 with ‘”Awaken, My Love!”‘. The song ‘Redbone’, which featured on that LP, won the Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B Performance earlier this year.

It’s not clear whether ‘Summertime Magic’ and ‘Feels Like Summer’ will feature on the next full-length Gambino project – which has been tipped to be Glover’s final-ever album under the Gambino name.

Recently, an animator has been recreating Childish Gambino’s ‘This is America’ video in pixels using a 1984 Macintosh computer.

The pixel animation is the project of Pinot Ichwandard, who has spent a month on the task, so far. At the time of writing, he’s created 470 frames, spending about two-three hours per night on the video.
