Burning questions for Legends of Tomorrow season four
What did the Legends team screw up now? | As is their style, the Legends aboard the Waverider can’t fix one problem without causing an avalanche of others. So despite their incredible win in the season three finale against the larger-than-life demon Mallus, the Legends are heading into season four with a boatload of new, monstrous issues. While catching some rays in Aruba (finally!), Constantine (Matt Ryan) showed up unannounced with a severed monster head and the shocking news that because the Legends let Mallus out of his time prison in order to fight and destroy him, a whole host of other evil monsters escaped as well. “You opened a door, love,” Constantine told Sara (Caity Lotz). “And Mallus wasn’t the only thing that got out.” What other kinds of supernatural horrors will the Legends have to face in season four? How will that affect the overall tone of the goofy, fun series if monsters are the new big bad? And will this be the Legends’ mission for the entire season?
Will Damien Darhk return? | The magical villain has proven time and time again in the Arrow-verse that he has mastered how to come back from the dead. Thanks to Damien Darhk’s (Neil McDonough) mystical powers and time traveling abilities, it clearly will take more than a demon taking over his body and dying to keep him down. So will Damien be able to cheat death once more and return to cause more trouble for the Legends? Or was the season three finale really his swan song?
How will Amaya remain a member of the team? | Original Vixen Amaya (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) seemed to make her peace with leaving the Legends at the end of season three. She shared an emotional goodbye with her boyfriend Nate (Nick Zano) and returned to her Zambesi tribe back in her own time in 1942. But with Richardson-Sellers remaining a series regular on Legends of Tomorrow for season four, that clearly was not the last viewers have seen of her. How will Amaya remain on the show if she’s not on the Waverider? Or will she instead be lured back on the team by Nate or the team’s new mission?
Did Rip Hunter really die? | The Legends former captain Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) is yet another character who has cheated death many times. His latest death scene came about in the season three finale, when he once again sacrificed himself to save the world. But did the time-traveling genius really die? Or will he return in season four with another adventurous story of a last-minute save? How many resurrections can one man have before his time runs out for good?
How will Constantine’s presence on the Waverider shake things up for the team? | With the introduction of a supernatural problem came a supernatural solution. After his successful first go with the Legends, Constantine is now a full-fledged member of the team going into season four to help battle all the monsters that escaped the time prison. His magical, mystical powers will definitely come in handy. But what does this mean for him and Sara, after they hooked up the last time they worked together? Will they continue their no-strings relationship, or will Constantine find himself a new romantic partner on the team? And could that new partner be a male this time giving equal representation for the bisexual character?
What other new characters will join the Legends team? | Executive producer Phil Klemmer has made it no secret that the Legends team is always open to new recruits. Even with Constantine’s addition to the Waverider, there are still more open seats on the time ship. Will Sara’s girlfriend Ava (Jes Macallan) join the team in an official capacity? Or will new characters be introduced this season with the intention of sticking around permanently?
Will Beebo return? | The blue God of Fuzzy Adorableness was the ultimate scene-stealer in season three, and his giant return to take on Mallus in the epic finale fight was a series highlight. As the unofficial mascot of Legends of Tomorrow, he absolutely must return in some capacity in season four.
Gotham will return for season five on Fox. Supergirl will return for season four, The Flash will return for season five, Arrow will return for season seven, Legends of Tomorrow will return for season four and Black Lightning will return for season two, all on The CW.
