Alex Rodriguez is glad he didn’t start dating Jennifer Lopez sooner. On Aug. 1, the 43-year-old former baseball player appeared on NBC’s Today to discuss his blossoming, high-profile relationship with the 49-year-old star. “We’re in our 40s. We’re both from New York. We both come from Latina backgrounds. We both have two kids,” he said. “I think we’ve both been through a lot and can really appreciate each other.”
On why he’s glad the timing worked out how it did, Alex explained, “To be honest, if this happened when we were in our 20s, it would have never happened. It was just too much craziness. I wasn’t mature enough. You know, boys, we got to get our dumbness out of the way.”
As for Jennifer, it seems she couldn’t agree more. In a recent radio interview with 103.5 KTU, Jennifer also said she’s glad they didn’t date in their 20s. “We were both at a good place in our lives, and I think, maybe if we had met in our 20s, it wouldn’t . . . you know, maybe not so much. We’re too crazy,” she said. “But now, at this point in our lives, where we both have kids and we both accomplished certain things in our careers and we’re kind of in that second act of our lives, we really complement each other.”
