The model died on August 1, aged 32
Lady Gaga has apologised for speculating about Rick ‘Zombie Boy’ Genest’s cause of death.
The model, who was known for his tattoos that covered his body, died in Montreal on August 1. He was 32 years old. He was a friend of Gaga’s and had appeared in her video for ‘Born This Way’.
Following news of his death, Gaga had suggested he had died by suicide, writing in a now-deleted tweet that it was “beyond devastating.” Last night, she returned to Twitter to apologise for her comments.

“Out of respect for Rick’s family, Rick & his legacy I apologise if I spoke too soon as there was no witnesses or evidence to support any conclusion for the cause of his death,” she wrote. “I in no way meant to draw an unjust conclusion. My deepest condolences to his entire family and friends.”

She continued: “The art we made was sacred to me and I was emotional, he was an incredible artist and his art and heart will live on. Rest In Peace you beautiful soul.”

Following Genest’s death, a post appeared on his Instagram page of a dark background with a ring of white light. The caption included a poem, titled The Well.
