If you haven’t already heard, Ruby Rose has been cast to play Batwoman in an upcoming TV production due to hit our screens in 2019, and she couldn’t be more thrilled. Just a few days after the announcement, the Australian actress stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and got understandably emotional about her latest gig. She will play the modern version of Batwoman/Kate Kane, who is openly gay, and Ruby shared her excitement about taking on such a role, explaining that she wished someone played characters like this when she was growing up. Ruby explained that her motto now is “be the person that you needed when you were younger.”

Ruby also shared her emotional announcement with fans via Instagram, saying: “This is a childhood dream. This is something I would have died to have seen on TV when I was a young member of the LGBT community who never felt represented on TV and felt alone and different.”
