Rickie & Melvin and Charlie had presented the Kiss FM breakfast show for a record-breaking 10 years. Although best known for their work at the dance station, Rickie & Melvin began their broadcasting career at 1Xtra. Their new show will start in early 2019.

Charlie Sloth has left Radio 1

Kiss FM have yet to unveil a replacement for the breakfast show slot, with station boss Andy Roberts saying: “All at Kiss wish them the very best of luck for the future. We’ll be announcing exciting plans for Kiss breakfast very soon.”

After announcing his departure from Radio 1, Sloth was due to continue in his show until November. However, Sloth controversially left in October after his stunt at an awards show went wrong. Edith Bowman beat Sloth in the Best Specialist Music Show category at radio awards show The Arias. Admitting later that he was trying to have “a Kanye West moment”, Sloth took to the stage and grabbed the microphone, saying: “Edith Bowman, fuck your life. I just wanna say – Radio 1, 1Xtra, Saturday Night Rap Show, fuck your life. God bless.”

Bowman responded to Sloth’s rant by tweeting: “Morning, Charlie Sloth. Hope you are feeling okay this morning.”

While presenting Kiss’ breakfast show, Rickie & Melvin also hosted ITV Saturday night early evening show Bang On The Money, which lasted just one series. Melvin appeared on BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing that year, but was first to be voted off.
