Watch the surprise trailer for Rihanna and Donald Glover’s new film ‘Guava Island’

The movie has been confirmed after details were leaked earlier this year

Rihanna and Donald Glover will co-star in a new film called Guava Island, it has been confirmed. Check out the first trailer below.

Back in August, it was reported that the pair were working together after being spotted on a set in Havana. A Cuban publication claimed that Rihanna’s trip coincided with the filming dates for Glover’s project.

Now, the film has been officially announced – with its trailer premiering at Glover’s PHAROS festival in New Zealand last night (November 24).

The surprise clip begins with Glover singing and playing his guitar while Rihanna – who portrays his girlfriend – walks into the room. “We live in paradise but none of us actually have the time or the means to live here,” Glover says during the fast-paced clip.

Guava Island is credited in the trailer as “A Childish Gambino film”. Letitia Wright and Nonso Anozie are also confirmed to star in the movie.

As previously reported, the film was directed by Hiro Murai – Glover’s collaborator who made Childish Gambino’s acclaimed ‘This Is America’ visuals earlier this year. The filmmaker also worked with Glover on several episodes of Atlanta.

For Rihanna, the role will mark the latest in a string of big-screen roles – after several turns in films including Oceans Eight, Valerian and Battleship.

Meanwhile, Donald Glover cancelled his scheduled show at London’s O2 Arena recently after injuring his foot. Originally due to take place on November 4, the Childish Gambino gig was postponed until March 24 next year.
