Footage surfaces of pyro going off in Lou Bega’s face while performing ‘Mambo No.5’

But still, he soldiers on

Footage has surfaced online of Lou Bega experiencing a near-miss after pyrotechnics went off in his face while performing his hit ‘Mambo No.5’. Check it out below.

The ’90s pop veteran was performing at Total Dance Fesztivál Cabrio in Budapest, Hungary back in May. Being widely shared this week, the footage shows the German singer rolling into the chorus of his No.1 cover of the Dámaso Pérez Prado classic before a jet of flames goes into his face.

While appearing distressed and rubbing his eyes and face, Bega continues to sing the song without interruption and completes the performance.

Bega made headlines back in 2013 when he received ‘tons of condolences’ from people mistaking him for the recently deceased Lou Reed.

“R.I.P Lou Reed the Genius who took Walks on the Wild side,” wrote Bega on his Facebook page. He added: “PS: I have been receiving tons of condolences because of a journalist confusing our identities. Lou Bega sends his condolences to Mr Reed’s Family.”

To date, Bega has released five studio albums. His last was ‘A Little Bit Of ’80s’ in 2018. He’ll kick off 2019 with live shows in Australia and New Zealand, before returning to Europe for a run of dates in the summer.
