“I wrote this here rough yet delicate tune last night”
Frances Bean Cobain has shared an emotive new song on Instagram this evening.
Sharing a short video of herself playing the track acoustically on a guitar, Cobain also posted a snippet of the song’s lyrics.
Speaking about the song, Cobain said: “I wrote this here rough yet delicate tune last night. The creative death rattle of 2018, as it were.”
She added: “It’s been a weird one but I’ve never felt more creatively charged or more in control of my own narrative.”
Earlier this year, it was reported that the daughter of Courtney Love and the late Kurt Cobain had signed a two-album record deal with Colombia.
Back in September, she teased a stripped-back song online. Offering herself feedback on her own performance, she wrote: “What she lacks in technical precision, she makes up for with charisma.”
In October, Cobain also teased another new track that referenced self-love, loss, and suicide. Watch the clip below.
The singer wrote the lyrics in the video’s caption, along with a message on her raw vocal style. “If I could keep the raspiness in my voice from being sick without getting sick … I would,” she said.
Earlier this year, Cobain was asked what her father would think of her music. She replied: “I don’t have an answer for that because I don’t want to speak on someone else’s behalf. I would hope that he would be proud of the human being I am even if he didn’t like the art I am putting out. That’s all I would ask of anyone in my life.”
