Ronson shared the first track from the album last week
Mark Ronson has revealed his forthcoming solo album will feature a guest appearance from Tame Impala‘s Kevin Parker.
Ronson and Parker have reportedly been working on a project with SZA and have DJed together in the past, including at New York’s Governors Ball festival in 2017.
Speaking to NME, the musician and producer said: “We have a song that we wrote together for my record called ‘Laurie’ that we’re working on.” He added that he had heard some of Tame Impala’s new music, saying it “sounded amazing – like that’s a surprise to anyone. It’s pretty mind-blowing and great.”
Ronson also discussed how he no longer feels the pressure to recreate the success of 2014 hit single ‘Uptown Funk’. “I think there was no… thing in my mind of, ‘Oh, I’ve gotta follow ‘Uptown Funk’,” he said. “I think I fell into that trap with a few singles and shit that I put out since then, but this feels like a different project.”
The star shared the first track from his new album last week (November 29) in Miley Cyrus collaboration, ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’. In the interview, he revealed the song was released because Cyrus had decided on a November release date but it being out didn’t mean the whole album was finished.
Asked how close it was to completion, he replied: “I don’t really know!” Ronson elaborated: “I didn’t know when we were gonna put this record out. Miley was like, ‘November, let’s go’. So now I’m like, ‘Oh, I better go finish this thing!’
“It’s good though, to have that kind of pressure. Sometimes I can just fuck around with, like, a snare drum, for three months. So I like having a fire under me right now.”
