Yo La Tengo and Bill Callahan covered Carly Simons’ ‘Touched by the Sun’ during the fifth night of Yo La Tengo’s 8 Nights of Hanukkah concert series.

Yo La Tengo are currently embarking on their 8 Nights of Hanukkah concert series, which sees them perform live shows from December 2 to December 9 at New York’s Bowery Ballroom.

On night five of the series (December 7), the three-piece were joined by special guest Bill Callahan to perform a cover of Carly Simon’s ‘Touched by the Sun.’ The song originally appeared on Simon’s 1994 LP Letters Never Sent. Watch a clip of the performance below.

Last year, special guests during the concert series included Bob Odenkirk, Jeff Tweedy, and Todd Barry.

Earlier this year, Kurt Vile joined Yo La Tengo on stage for a cover of The Cure’s ‘Friday I’m In Love’. Yo La Tengo originally recorded the song for their 2015 covers album ‘Stuff Like That There’.

The New Jersey band were performing in Philadelphia in support of their latest album, 2018’s ‘There’s A Riot Going On‘. The record is their 15th in their 34-year career, and follows 2016’s ‘Murder In The Second Degree’.

The band were one of four headliners at this year’s End of the Road Festival. The festival also marked Vampire Weekend’s first UK festival date in over four years.
