The dressing named after the trio’s 1997 album is apparently “packed with flavour, but not overwhelming”
Blink-182‘s ‘Dude Ranch’ has served as the inspiration behind the name of a new vegan ranch dressing which has been created by two US college students.
The pop-punk trio’s 1997 album in question proved to be their first big breakthrough LP, featuring such tracks as ‘Dammit’ and ‘Josie’ and selling over a million copies in the US.
UCLA students Megan Hullander and Angela Simmons have now taken inspiration from that record to co-found Dude Ranch Dressing, which is set to launch following a release party on Thursday (January 17) with their first product, a vegan ranch dressing.
“We tried to make it as Earth-friendly as possible and as healthy as we possibly could, and get all the ingredients while still maintaining the taste,” Hullander told the Daily Bruin. “We started out making recipes that we found, and then just replaced ingredients to use ones that were either more sustainable, or added things we thought would be good for flavor.”
Describing the taste, Simmons told the publication: “It’s pretty packed with flavour but it’s not overwhelming. So it’s a really good balance between this crazy flavour, (but) you can enjoy carrots, or pita bread, or whatever you want to put your ranch on, and it doesn’t take away from the flavor of the food.”
Simmons added that the duo hope to branch out into other pun-titled products very soon, including a buffalo flavour titled “Mark Ruffalo.”
Over the festive period, Tom DeLonge claimed that his former Blink bandmate Travis Barker sent him a nude for Christmas.
