Slash says we’ll have to ‘see what happens when it happens’ with new Guns N’ Roses album

The guitarist had already confirmed the band was working on a new record

Slash has provided an update about Guns N’ Roses’ plans to make a new album.

The guitarist had previously confirmed the band were working on new material last year. His bandmates have also discussed getting back into the studio.

In a new interview with TVK’s Rock City, Slash spoke about the difficulties of putting plans into motion, though he did talk about how new music is in the works.

“Axl, Duff, myself, and Richard have all talked about… there’s material and stuff going on already for a new record,” he said.

“It’s just, with Guns N’ Roses, you don’t go, ‘Oh, there’s a plan, and it’s gonna be like this,’ because that’s not how it works. Basically, the only real answer to give is we’re hoping to put a new record out, and we’ll just see what happens when it happens.”

A new album from the band would be the first to feature Slash, Duff McKagan, and Axl Rose together since their 1993 covers album, ‘The Spaghetti Incident?’. It will also be Guns N’ Roses’ first record since 2008’s ‘Chinese Democracy’, which ended a 15-year gap in their discography.

Last September, Slash revealed GN’R were working on a new album and that Rose had “a ton” of songs ready to record.

In December, the frontman reportedly told the audience at the group’s Hawaii concert: “We can’t do what’s next until we finish this, right? Now that all that’s done, we can get on with things.”

Weeks later, guitarist Richard Fortus also chimed in on the news, telling radio station KSHE they were going to try and get a new album “out soon.”

“I think it will happen faster than you think,” he said.
