Fan gifts Phoebe Bridgers with a sword after Ryan Adams ‘gave one to every woman on their tour except her’

“You don’t need it, but you deserve it”

Phoebe Bridgers has been given a sword by a fan after claiming that once Ryan Adams gifted one to all women on their tour apart from her.

The singer-songwriter’s initial comments followed an an article on The Niche Blog which ranked the lyrics to her single ‘Emotion Sickness’ in order of ‘how much they made you want to give Phoebe Bridgers a sword’.

She later clarified: “I was on tour with Ryan Adams on [International] Women’s Day a few years ago and he got every woman on the crew a sword except for me.”

After a strong reaction from fans on Twitter, one went as far as to present Bridgers with her own sword – complete with a note which read:

“To protec

To attacc

To look fucking tight as hecc.

Phoebe,

I hope you like this real, authentic sword.

You don’t need it, but you deserve it.

Thanks for sharing your sad songs with us.”

This comes after Adams was accused by several women of sexual misconduct, manipulation and abuse. Bridgers and Adams’ ex-wife, Mandy Moore, were among those whose featured in the report.

Bridgers later issued a statement calling on Adam’s ‘network’ or “friends, bands and people he worked with” to be held to account.

“None of them held him accountable,” she said. “They told him, by what they said or by what they didn’t, that what he was doing was okay. They validated him. He couldn’t have done this without them. Guys, if your friend is acting fucked up, call them out. If they’re actually your friend, they’ll listen. That’s the way this all gets better.”

It was also reported that Adams may now also be facing a criminal investigation from the F.B.I over the allegations, one of which was said to have included an inappropriate relationship with a young fan.

Adams denies any wrongdoing. The release of his upcoming album ‘Big Colors‘ and UK tour dates have since been cancelled.

Meanwhile, Bridgers is currently touring in support of Better Oblivion Community Center – her new band and album with Conor Oberst.
