Here’s the cover and release date of Elton John’s upcoming autobiography

Arriving this October…

Elton John has revealed the cover and release date of his long-awaited autobiography to mark his 72nd birthday. Check out the video below.

The legendary performer confirmed his “first and only autobiography” earlier this month, explaining: “My life has been one helluva roller coaster ride and I’m now ready to tell you my story, in my own words.” John first announced he would be releasing his “no-holds-barred” memoir back in 2016.

Now, to celebrate his 72nd birthday, Rocket Man has unveiled the cover, title, and release date of the book. Titled Me, the autobiography will arrive on shelves on October 15 and is available to pre-order here.

The book’s cover features a black and white image of John in his younger years, sporting a pair of his colourful trademark specs. “This is the very first time anyone has seen this, apart from me, of course,” the singer said during the Twitter unveiling.

An official description of Me reads: “In his first and only official autobiography, music icon Elton John reveals the truth about his extraordinary life, which is also the subject of the upcoming film Rocketman. The result is Me – the joyously funny, honest and moving story of the most enduringly successful singer/songwriter of all time.”

Speaking of working on the project in a previous statement, John explained: “I’m not prone to being a nostalgic person. I’m often accused of only looking forward to my next gig or creative project. It’s come as quite a surprise how cathartic I am finding the process of writing my memoirs.

“As I look back, I realize what a crazy life I have had the extreme privilege of living.”

Elton John’s Me will be published by Henry Holt in the U.S. and Pan Macmillan in the U.K.

Meanwhile, Rocketman‘s Taron Egerton has said that the upcoming movie on John’s life won’t shy away from diving into the star’s addictions.
