The two-part documentary aired in the UK earlier this week
Michael Jackson’s music has been given a surge in the charts after the UK broadcast of Leaving Neverland.
The two-part, four-hour documentary aired on Channel 4 earlier this week (March 6 and 7) following its US premiere days before.
According to the Evening Standard, Jackson’s ‘Number Ones’ album charted at Number 43 after climbing 44 places, while his ‘The Essential Michael Jackson’ creates hits record was at Number 79.
The pop star’s singles were given a push too, with ‘Bad’ climbing to Number 147 and ‘Thriller’ below it at Number 172.

Leaving Neverland explores the allegations made against Jackson by Wade Robson and James Safechuck, who both say the pop star abused them as children. Jackson’s estate have denied the claims, while a civil suit was thrown out by a judge in 2012 after it was ruled the estate could not be held liable for Jackson’s behaviour.
Following the documentary’s US release, radio stations across the world began boycotting the star’s music. According to CNN, multiple major radio stations in New Zealand have stopped airing Jackson’s music including commercial broadcaster MediaWorks. Meanwhile, CBC reports that in Canada three major Montreal-based radio stations have pulled Jackson off air.
Meanwhile, it was confirmed earlier today (March 8) that a 1991 episode of The Simpsons that featured Jackson would be taken off the air. Producer James L. Brooks said pulling ‘Stark Raving Dad’ was “the only choice to make.”
