He called Kelly “a monster” who “should go to jail forever” during last night’s show
Pete Davidson addressed the recent allegations surrounding Michael Jackon and R. Kelly during yesterday’s Saturday Night Live. Watch the clip below.
During the show’s ‘Weekend Update’ segment, which offers a comedic slant on news from the past seven days, Davidson began a speech on the music industry’s most-recent sexual abuse claims – calling R. Kelly “a monster” who “should go to jail forever”.
After suggesting that supporting the Catholic Church is “the same thing as being an R. Kelly fan”, the comedian discussed separating the art from the artist amid allegations levelled at well-known acts.
“The reason everyone is so upset is ’cause R. Kelly and Micheal Jackson make great music,” he said. “If I found out Macklemore did some weird stuff, I’d be happy to free up the space on my iPhone.”

“Once we start doing our research, we’re not going to have much left because it seems like all really talented people are sick,” he claimed.
“Pretending these people never existed is maybe not the solution. The rule should be: you could appreciate their work, but only if you admit what they did.”
Davidson reasoned that if it’s important for fans to continue to listen to the shamed act’s material, then they should “at least own it”.
Offering a possible solution, Davidson said: “Any time any of us listen to a song or watch a movie made by an accused serial predator, you have to donate a dollar to a charity that helps sexual assault survivors.”
He then joked that he had “already donated $142, and that’s just from the ‘Ignition’ remix alone.”
Meanwhile, R. Kelly has reportedly been released from prison after paying his unpaid child support.
Taken into custody on Wednesday (March 6) while attending a hearing over unpaid child support, it was reported Kelly owed his ex-wife Andrea Kelly more than $161,000 (£122.2k).
