See the First Photos From Princess Beatrice’s Wedding Day

The release of the first photos from the ceremony was delayed out of respect Captain Tom, 100, who was knighted by the Queen in recognition of his fundraising efforts for the NHS. It was the first official public appearance of the matriarch since the U.K. went into lockdown.

At the knighting ceremony, the BBC reports, the Queen said, “My granddaughter got married this morning. Both Philip and I managed to get there—very nice.”

Moreover, many onlookers noticed Prince Andrew didn’t pose for photos with his daughter on her big day, something that’s typically traditional of royal family members to do. However, in light of his controversial relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, it’s easy to see why that decision was made.

“The Duke of York wants people to celebrate his daughter getting married rather than focusing on him,” a source told The Sunday Times. “If the duke had been in the pictures, the circus across the pond would have started up, and people would have accused him of trying to ram himself into a picture with the Queen. You can’t win.”

“The one thing nobody can criticise the duke for is his love for his daughters, and he doesn’t want to be a distraction for his daughter’s wedding,” added the source.

The Sunday Times noted that Prince Andrew did walk Princess Beatrice down the aisle.

The Princess’ wedding came as a pleasant surprise for royal watchers who previously believed the wedding to be canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
