Taraji P. Henson Is Ready for BET Awards & “Thot Girl Summer”
Taraji P. Henson led the festivities at the 2021 BET Awards.
The annual ceremony took place on Sunday, June 27, as Megan Thee Stallion was among the big winners, with viewers watching her win three awards. In addition, Queen Latifah delivered a heartfelt speech while receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award during the telecast held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
Megan and DaBaby entered the evening leading all contenders with seven nominees apiece. Other top contenders heading into the ceremony included Cardi B and Drake, who picked up five nominations apiece, while Anderson .Paak, Bruno Mars, Chloe x Halle and Chris Brown all landed four nods.
One of the night’s highlights was Cardi B revealing during her performance that she’s expecting her second child with husband Offset.
Another key moment included Lil Nas X concluding his rendition of “Montero” with a steamy kiss. Also performing were Megan Thee Stallion; H.E.R.; DJ Khaled; Roddy Ricch; Tyler, the Creator; City Girls; and Andra Day.
