Check out the vintage footage here
Smashing Pumpkins‘ Billy Corgan has been asked about the time that the band played Twister with Nirvana.
Filmed for MTV, the Chicago outfit took on Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, and Dave Grohl in a somewhat chaotic version of the classic party game. During the clip, Nirvana bassist Novoselic is seen taking part semi-naked in front of an audience.
Now, a Pumpkins fan has asked frontman Corgan if he recalls the bizarre evening.
“No, that wasn’t us, TBH,” he responded in a recent Q&A on Instagram. Corgan is said to respond with “TBH” when faced with questions that can be answered by a quick Google search.
When reminded that there is video footage of the game happening, Corgan continued to troll the user. “Again, that’s not us,” he said.

The vintage clip was filmed at Boston’s Bill’s Bar in 1991. Ahead of the game, Smashing Pumpkins and Nirvana had played a show together at a nearby venue. Remind yourself of the moment above.
Local band Bullet Lavolta also appeared on the line-up. In 2011, their drummer Todd A. Philips wrote about the surreal evening.
“MTV approached all three bands about doing some kind of impromptu video interview at Bill’s Bar,” he said (via Vanyaland). “We walked over and were met by an MTV producer, armed with a bucket of Crisco and the game Twister. Her vision, ‘Naked greasy Twister with interview’ seemed funny at the time, but the taping ended up being a bust.”
Last month, Smashing Pumpkins announced their highly-anticipated comeback album, ‘Shiny and Oh So Bright, Vol. 1 / LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun’
Following the news, Billy Corgan recently claimed that Smashing Pumpkins’ former bassist D’Arcy Wretzky continued to ask if she could re-join the band – even after the animosity between them around the reunion had peaked.
