Kanye West meets with the President of Uganda and gives him a pair of Yeezys

“I thank Kanye for the gift of white sneakers”

Kanye West has met with the President of Uganda, after heading to the African country to finish recording his new album.

The ‘Ye’ star has set up base in Africa as he finishes recording ‘Yandhi’, which was originally set for release last month.

Over the weekend, he returned to social media to share footage of the recording sessions – which appear to be taking place in a number of see-through domes that he’s established.

But as well as pursuing his creative endeavours, he’s spending time meeting some of the country’s most esteemed dignitaries too.

Posting on Twitter today, Ugandan President Yoweri K Museveni‏ shared a series of photos that show him meeting with both West and wife Kim Kardashian.

“I welcome American entertainment stars Kanye West and @KimKardashian to Uganda”, Musveni wrote.

“I held fruitful discussions with the duo on how to promote Uganda’s tourism and the arts. I thank Kanye for the gift of white sneakers. Enjoy your time in Uganda. It is the true Pearl of Africa.”

On Saturday, West returned to Twitter to share a periscope stream that saw him discussing mind control.

“I just wanna talk about mind control. You know when people try to influence you through social media and try to tell you what to do, or if people post something that’s positive on Instagram it gets taken down if it’s not part of a bigger agenda”, he told followers.

Another clip posted online saw him dancing to local musicians as he works on his own material.

It comes only days after the rapper headed to the White House for a meeting with Donald Trump.

West – who was wearing a ‘Make America Great Again’ hat – met Trump in the Oval Office of The White House, with a televised sit-down between the rapper, the President and the former NFL player Jim Brown taking place prior to a working lunch which was set to focus on such topics as urban revitalisation and new workforce training programs.
