Eminem shares ‘8 Mile’ throwback photo

It’s from as far back as 2002

Eminem has posted an old photo of him on the set of 8 Mile, which was released in cinemas 16 years ago.

The rapper posted a photo of his character Jimmy, aka B-Rabbit, flipping the bird in beanie with a hood up.

Eminem wrote beneath the photo, shared on Thursday (November 8): :B-Rabbit in the house. #TBT Throwback to 16 years ago today #8mile.”

8 Mile is loosely based on Eminem’s life as an artist trying to make it in an industry traditionally dominated by African-American rappers.

The film was a hit both commercially and critically. It opened with the second highest earnings for an R-rated movie in the US at the time and critics praised Eminem, real name Marshall Mathers, for his debut acting role. LA Weekly’s John Powers wrote that, “Eminem plays Rabbit with riveting, flamboyantly expressive intensity.”

In 2003, Eminem won the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 75th Academy Awards for his single ‘Lose Yourself’, which was on the 8 Mile soundtrack.

Eminem was reportedly so certain that he wouldn’t win the award that he ended up missing the ceremony.

Earlier this month, the rapper released a new rap film called Bodied. He booked out an entire cinema in Detroit so that fans could watch the movie for free.

Elsewhere, Snoop Dogg has teased a new collaboration with Mathers.

A photo shared on Instagram indicates that Eminem could be working on music for Snoop’s stage show Redemption of a Dogg.
