Tory Lanez Pleads Not Guilty in Megan Thee Stallion Shooting Case

UPDATE: Tory Lanez has pleaded not guilty to assault and gun charges related to the shooting of former friend and rapper Megan Thee Stallion.

The 28-year-old fellow rapper made his plea during an arraignment at a Los Angeles court on Wednesday, Nov. 18.

In October, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement that Tory, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was “charged with assaulting a female friend” on July 12. While Megan, 25, is not identified by name, details and dates described in the press release match up to her previous statements about the alleged crimes.

“The defendant and the 25-year-old victim got into an argument while riding in an SUV in the Hollywood Hills,” the statement said. “The victim exited the vehicle and Peterson is accused of shooting several times at her feet and wounding her.”

Tory was charged with one felony count each of assault with a semiautomatic firearm—personal use of a firearm—and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. Los Angeles prosecutors also said he faces a gun allegation and is accused of personally inflicting great bodily injury. He faces a possible maximum sentence of 22 years and eight months in prison if convicted.
