Smashing Pumpkins heavily-hyped reunion tour doesn’t appear to be selling very well, with a number of seats still available for shows across the USA.
The tour was announced earlier this month, after it was revealed that original members Billy Corgan, James Iha, and Jimmy Chamberlin will be on the line-up. D’arcy Wretzky will not be joining the band on tour, following a turbulent few days of back-and-forth, in which Wretzky opened up about her fraught relationship with Corgan.
Now, as Consequence Of Sound report, it seems numerous shows across the two-and-a-half month U.S. run are struggling to shift tickets, after they went on sale last Friday.
Twitter user @solace first identified the issue, in a number of tweets (below) outlining just how full the seating charts still are. Pumpkins’ hometown show in Chicago is selling well, but the tour opener in Glendale is underperforming, along with other dates in Saint Paul, Sioux Falls, Salt Lake City, Pittsburgh, Omaha, and Detroit, and a huge show at New York City’s Madison Square Garden “still has a decent amount of tickets available”.

After recently announcing a 2018 tour to play material from their first five albums (as well as reuniting the girls from the ‘Siamese Dream’ sleeve to recreate the iconic photo), last week saw the Pumpkins return to the studio to add the finishing touches to their Rick Rubin-produced comeback album.
To mark progress, the band have shared a new promo photo, telling fans: “Shiny And Oh So Bright 2018 – “This show and staging will be unlike any we’ve ever done, and will feature a set unlike any we’ve ever played. For if this is a chance at a new beginning, we plan on ushering it in with a real bang.”
