As awards season ends, below is a look at what some of this year’s crafts winners and nominees are doing next:
Cinematographer Roger Deakins — who received a standing ovation and his first Oscar, after 14 nominations, for Blade Runner 2049 — is currently working on The Goldfinch, the John Crowley-helmed adaptation of the bestselling novel of the same name by Donna Tartt.
Supervising sound editor/designer Richard King won a remarkable fourth Academy Award in sound editing, for his work on Dunkirk. His next project is X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
King is reteaming with Dunkirk film editor Lee Smith, who also won an Oscar on Sunday and is currently cutting X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
The Shape of Water editor Sidney Wolinsky starts work today on Greyhound, a World War II drama starring Tom Hanks and directed by Aaron Schneider.
Cinematography nominee for The Shape of Water, Dan Laustsen, is in preproduction on John Wick: Chapter 3, having previously lensed John Wick: Chapter 2, both for director Chad Stahelski.
Baby Driver’s nominated editors Jonathan Amos and Paul Machliss are cutting The Kid Who Would Be King, starring Patrick Stewart, for helmer Joe Cornish. (Baby Driver DP Bill Pope lensed the film.)
Upcoming work from Julian Slater — Baby Driver‘s supervising sound editor, sound designer and rerecording mixer — includes Emilio Estevez’s The Public.
John Gregory — nominated for editing Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri — is editing Mike Leigh’s Peterloo, the story of the 1819 Peterloo Massacre where British Forces attacked a peaceful democracy rally in Manchester.
