Blockers centers its story on three parents (John Cena, Leslie Mann and Ike Barinholtz) who take it upon themselves to prevent their teenage children from losing their virginities on prom night. Not only is it the latest comedic effort from three well-known and popular comedic leads (between films like Trainwreck and Sisters, Cena has proven himself as a particularly fun and unexpected comedic force), but it’s also the directorial debut for Kay Cannon. Up to this point, Cannon has become largely known for her role as the screenwriter of the Pitch Perfect franchise, so it will almost certainly prove interesting to see how she evolves as she steps into the director’s chair. Blockers is already generating some insane buzz based off of the early reviews (it has an 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is almost unheard of in the realm of raunchy comedies), so these tickets are likely going to be worth it.
